Croatia Rogoznica Travel Tourism Guide - Rogoznica is seen as a fisherman’s village and is on the Dalmatian coast, in the southern part of the Sibenik-Knin County. The current population is 2391.

The first inhabitants came here in 1390 and they then fled from the Turks in 1578 to the nearby islet, Kopara. The peninsula today comprises of the former mainland part called Kopaca and the islet of Kopara, which are both connected by an artificial causeway built in the nineteenth century, in the present village of Rogoznica.

The oldest historical monument here is the church of St John, which was built in 1324 on the Ploce promontory. Another sacral monument is the church of St Nicholas, beside the Loznice bay, which was built in 1615 and restored in the nineteenth century. The town is mainly comprised of medieval architecture and white stoned houses.

Fishing and agriculture are the main occupations of the local inhabitants. Thick pine forests surround the town of Rogoznica and there is a long coastal path. The Dragon’s eye salt lake is well worth a visit with limestone rocks and surrounded by lush vegetation. The local marina was built in 1966 with a sheltered harbour. There is a fishing festival held here in the town every year. The National park Krka is only 36 kilometers away. If you like diving, there are huge underwater cliffs with Gorgonian coral nearby. You can also try your hand at fencing in the town.
