Croatia Varazdinske Toplice Travel Tourism Guide - The town, spa and health resort of Varazdinske Toplice is situated in the Bedrija valley and on the slopes of the Varadzin and the Kalrick Mountain. Varazdinske Toplice is in the region of the Hrvatsko Zagorje at an elevation of 230 meters. There is a health spa in the town dedicated to the treatment of rheumatic diseases and rehabilitation.

The health resort has a long tradition as it has excellent bioclimatic factors, and thermal water that has a temperature of fifty eight degrees Celsius and contains sulphur as well as fluorine. The water can help aid various diseases such as orthopedic diseases and rheumatic problems.

The thermal springs in Varazdinske Toplice were used during the Roman times and there are remains such as excavated baths and relief's showing health care that are displayed in the health center park. This is the oldest spa in Croatia and the Romans called it Aqua Iasae, staying here for 400 years. These remains are in the spa complex park and only a quarter of the Roman settlement has been excavated so far. The modern spa was founded in 1820 and has been regularly visited by the upper class from the entire Austro-Hungrian Empire. Many so-called witches were burned in Varazdinske Toplice in 1585.

The town of Varazdinske Toplice has a wide variety of sports and recreational facilities available within the local area. There are various festivals held here all year round such as the Toplice Summer in July. Angling is available in the Bedrija and hunting in the nearby forests. You can go hiking in the Toplice hills.
The chief occupations of the local inhabitants include farming, viticulture, metallurgy and tourism. There is a native museum, which holds a collection of Croatian native art and numerous historic monuments around the town.
