Croatia Korcula Island Travel Tourism Guide - The island of Korcula has pebbled beaches and many little inlets that provide you with a warm and tranquil atmosphere. Located in the Adriatic Sea the water is crystal clear and unpolluted by humans. The area provides for numerous water sports and the climate provides for some great vegetation. The closeness of the island allows you to travel to other islands and explore the history of those as well.

The island of Korcula has a city called Korcula that is the historical part of the island. The city is located in the Peljesac Channel. The coastal area of Korcula is made up of pine forests. The mild climate and isolation of the island provides many tourists with a peaceful and relaxing vacation. The land has linked the three hectares together to form the island. The location provides for yachting and windsurfing because of the warm sea breeze of the Adriatic Sea.

The marina of Korcula has 220 berths and 100 on the ground, the regatta and yachting attracts tourism in the summer for warm and breezy water sports. The only way to explore the island is at sea. The island is situated around fifty islets and provides visitors scenic views of the island.
The island of Korcula has transportation to the island of nearby Vis and the Mljet National Park. Vela Luka is on the west side of the island and has many tiny inlets that provide a tranquil environment. The unpolluted sea with the fig trees and olive groves provides visitors with a Mediterranean sanctuary as well a mild warm climate.

The pebble beaches with the crystal clear sea water that surrounds the island is inviting and alluring. The island of Korcula is the third most heavily wooded island in the Mediterranean. Snorkeling allows tourists to see the beautiful underwater sites that will have you knowing exactly why people live there and don’t want to leave the island.

The Cathedral of Saint mark has been preserved and is found in the old part of town, which can be accessed by the Baroque stairway that was constructed in 1907. The Cathedral appears as a Gothic structure dating back to the 14th century. It was not completely finished until the end of the 15th century.

The Memorial Museum which open in 1968 was actually a small summer mansion, Maksimi-li-jan Vanka was an artist whose personal document and painting are all seen as a part of history in the Museum. There are many historical churches on the island of Korcula that are beautifully built by many men in many different centuries.

The old city attracts visitors all year long for views of the intense architecture displayed. Another attraction is the Moreska which is performed many times during the tourism season but the true date of the Moreska is July 29 which also the day of the Saint Todor celebration. The festival of the Moreska dates back into the 15th century with its old knight dances and celebrations.
