Croatia Vrgada Island Travel Tourism Guide - Vrgada Island is only 2 and a half miles from the mainland, and is in the Sibenik archipelago. Vrgada has an area of 3.7 square kilometers and it is between the islands of Pasman and Murter. You can reach Vrgada by ferry from Pakostene and Biograd. The island has been inhabited for over 5000 years.

The only settlement is Vrgada in Luka bay, which has around 200 inhabitants. Most people are mainly employed in the tourist industry and fishing. Agriculture has become almost non-existent here. Vrgada is seen as a fisherman’s island. There are no cars here and no hotels.

The island has a Mediterranean climate. The vegetation here comprises of pine woods, olive groves and there are several coves around the island with sandy or pebbly beaches. The highest point is Srabljinovac which 115 metres above sea level.
